Mono Means One is an instrumental progressive/psychedelic trio flooring audiences up and down the east coast thanks to incredible musicianship, mixed with moody tones and poignant melodies. Their debut album will consist of 8 tracks, and sounds somewhere between Radiohead, The Mars Volta and Medeski Martin and Wood. Their well-balanced mix of improvisation and composition mixed with a keen sense of juxtaposition serves to bring listeners to the brink of insanity and then back home to a serene homeostasis several times over. Audiences fall in love with the unique, blended layers of sound, often not knowing whether to dance or simply revel in awe at John’s seamless simultaneous integration of Taurus pedals and bass tapping technique, Rob’s explosive energy behind the drum set or Issac’s mastery on the keys and manipulating sounds.

Council Ring is a mix of psychedelic soul and accessible songwriting. Formed at the end of 2020: when the mood of the world turned towards fear and uncertainty, guitarist Ty Mattox and bassist Matt Kavanaugh turned towards music and creativity. Joined by Quint Gallaher on drums, Ian Hirsch on keyboards, and Chris Jan on vocals and guitar, they began performing their own taste of rock music. For Council Ring, the journey is the destination, and there is always something new to learn.

The music is rock and roll that’s been described as “Pink Floyd on steroids.” A rhythmic pulse throbs underneath a swirling mixture of instrumentation and vocals: tension and depth is followed by tenderness and relaxation. Their goals are simple, but difficult: to bring the pressures of life out in the form of music.

Council Ring has established a reputation as a live experience with every show being different from the last. The band has played all over North Carolina from Asheville to Wilmington, Greensboro, Fayetteville for the Dogwood Music Festival and all over Charlotte at several different venues, clubs, bars and breweries. Their fans continue to grow as does their experience and confidence, drawing recognition from a range of ages and musical tastes.
